The publication quotes Shukhrat Isakulov, adviser to the director of the Silk Road office of the UN World Tourism Organization: "The expected growth rate is 34%, and the estimated number of tourists will reach 7 million. For example, in 2019, this figure was 6.7 million tourists and fell sharply due to the pandemic."

Among the CIS countries, Russia is considered the largest and most important market, since more than 600 thousand Russian tourists visited Uzbekistan in 2022.

"The pandemic has had an impact on the tourism industry, but in recent years there has been a steady trend towards recovery," the publication says. ‑ In 2022, 5.2 million tourists visited Uzbekistan.
